where have I been?

I posted this on my myspace blog in Feb. Wanted to repost here and will update at the end.

I know I have left some cryptic messages and notes lately and appreciate the words of care and concern I have received.

Long story short version -

Was in ER in Jan with suspected heart attack. Eventually determined to be a virus in chest wall. Heart is fine.

Continued pain in left arm, left breast, chest resulted in a mammagram and discovered an abnormality. After scheduling a biopsy, then having it ruled that it was not necessary (while I was on the surgical table) the idea of Breast Cancer has been ruled out.

Pain still contines. Added to this, I began having some problems with my Left leg back in October. Weakness at hip/groin area, and pain. Has progressively worsened to the point of affecting my ability to work and to walk. The back MRI and hip xrays showed no bone problems so on to another dr.

So far in the last 6 weeks I have seen my family dr, ER dr, 2 cardiologists, an orthopedist, a cancer dr and a neurosurgeon. crazy!! lol

Saw a neurosurgeon yesterday and first thing to do is rule out or confirm MS. This possibliity was raised 5 years ago with a suspicious MRI so that is why it is the first thing to look at. Through some basic testing done in office it was determined that my left arm is much weaker and having problems as well.

I have a cane now that is making it much easier to get around, but will take some getting used to. Hopefully the tests can be done soon and we will have some answers.

I have ZERO energy and have had to hire full time help to take over my store for now, and have dropped all but one of my school classes. I still hope to make graduation in May, but as rapidly as this is deteriorating, I may not be able to walk in a few weeks.

As soon as we can figure out what it is, we can begin to treat it and hopefully get back to ’fun and energetic’ tez!! But for now it’s lots of hurry up and wait.

Oh, and I don’t care if I have to be carried up the stairs tomorrow night.... I am NOT missing Elton John in concert!! Some things are just too important. hehe!

So, not been a great start to the new year. I have been in physical therapy for two weeks now. I no longer am using a cane to walk, but while my left leg is getting stronger, my left arm is getting weaker. I have also had two episodes where my left eye starts drooping.

I will be going to a neurologist tomorrow for a brain mri and a nerve study to determine if I have ms. If I do, then we can begin to treat and deal with this. If I don't, I don't know where we will go next. I am exhausted, both mentally and physically, and just feel completely wrung out. I have still not been able to work - just a few hours a week. I still plan to graduate with my AA in May because the teachers and administrators are being GREAT about this.

Oh and Elton John?? Cancelled. Rescheduled for next month. Sometimes you just have to laugh!
